Sawwal Hadiya says her first year as a solo physiotherapist was fabulous. Her plan to become a physiotherapist became even more exciting after her father passed away last year. The doctors have declared him to be without any form of physical impairment. He was not diseased with any illness but contracted pancreatic cancer of different nature. Surgery at Badr Kisaan Hospital terminated the tumor affecting his body from his stomach. The doctor also advised him to wait for three weeks to recover. With the ample time to think, the physiotherapist ordered the official authorization of the surgeon who operated the cancerous growth.

Hereafter the doctor is to work completely on a rotational basis that is why he required two full days off during the last one year of the operator’s life. Every 1 day was filled with restless thoughts of how to reach my full capacity to avoid the fatigue. During those times, I had to be most alert and disciplined in every movement as my legs sometimes get too fatigued to deal with the physical duty on my shoulders which could create pain among my back. Therefore, I utilized as much time as possible for yoga to maintain the flow of the blood through my brain. It allowed me to be active physically, all the time enjoying yoga always coupled with physical exercise to maintain my energy. My ancient days of sepakthonyolongrung in Kerala lay the basis of my thoughts. Today yoga helps me to refocus from the stray thoughts and lets me do the thoughtless things. Yoga also improves my flexibility. If I choose to sit for longer hours in Yoga Yoga class, I should ensure that my posture is in-sync with my breathing pattern. I should keep a focused posture and breathe in and out firmly and in the right manner and also practice full body breathing. It helps me to be more relaxed. During the day, the yoga instructor help me practice full body breathing and along with increasing my body temperature, besides partaking in various other activities to increase my fitness. The yoga instructor provides training in weight lifting as a part of the physical activity. My favourite type of exercise is also observed as power yoga. It allows me to practice and even better because of my lean and lank physique, pilates and yoga help me to show my flexibility.

A gentle exercise that helps to get my metabolism revving. It also helps to boost my immunity. Taking care of my mental health is integral in my mind and body. Being a student of Swami Vivekananda’s biofeedback program helped me to keep myself focused. It helped me to find ways to keep a healthy diet, weight-loss and proper nutrition.

Para Bharadwaj, yoga taught me to pay attention to every moment of my life. It helped me to focus on my day to day activities. It helped me to monitor my work and find ways to stick to my routine to fit within my deadlines. Yoga helped me to fasten my breathing and calm down while I’m busy doing other activities. Yoga gave me a positive outlook on life and also taught me to value the time I have on my hands. Thus, the lessons life given me gave me the satisfaction I need to spread those lessons to others. The role of Sri Dharma yoga in my day to day lifestyle, my views on practice and its value are all the better received. I always tell others that the essence of yoga is to find one’s relaxation in you, breathe freely and get rid of any physical and emotional issues. Yoga has helped me to spread my love for yoga. Just like any other spiritual discipline and its impact, yoga has exposed me to many secrets and meditations too.

I feel I am blessed with every status through yoga. I feel mindful of my surroundings and all the aspects of it. My external state is made of more natural tranquility and good vibes which fit the spiritual fabric of yoga which I am practicing every day. Yoga has changed my concept of life and changed my attitude towards yoga. I am taught that yoga affects people’s thoughts, being spiritual, healthy, energetic, calm, accepting, flexible and sensitive.
